Well it is the 4th of July, and what meliorate to celebrate a new episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, and today we go back to the beginning sort of.

Twilight returns to Canterlot to make amends with her former friends.

I don't remember Twilight having rift with the ponies from her old home town, I idea shrug off her loner attitude.

Happy Fourth of July! That was a dandy episode. We finally got to run into Moon Dancer, who was first mentioned in the serial premiere, and she was much of a close-in as Twilight. She even had the same manestyle until present day. It was sweet of Twilight to make amends with her Canterlot friends, who, with the exception of Moon Dancer, never took Twilight brushing them off personal. Minuette had a larger role than Twinkleshine and Lemon Hearts. Well-nigh likely considering she's 1 of the more recognizable background ponies. She had a much better voice than she had in "Merchandise Ya!". Information technology'due south absurd to know Lyra was also one of Twilight's Canterlot friends. The scenes I found hilarious were Twilight putting herself in a volume to talk to Moon Dancer and Little finger riding on Twilight then Pinkie starts flying like Tails after landing.

Tell you what. Today's episode of My Little Pony hit me on so many levels personally. I take been in Moon Dancers shoes, taking risks and putting myself out there to get discover, and then have it accident upward in my face because I did not get the results that I wanted. I take it personally and then I get into a kind of funk and I start to lash out or close myself off. I become, every bit my sis tells it, passive aggressive. This gets me into trouble merely because I do non look into the reasons why I did not get the results that I wanted and I terminate up getting told off and and then I eat crow. I would elaborate more on this, simply I feel it would be meliorate for me to express my thoughts in a video. That is how personally I took this episode.

It was a excellent episodes, tin't complain though there are nip picks.

Start of Twilight as much as she felt bad for abandoning her friends, she was doing it for herself as much equally Moon Dancer because her perfect friendship record as a blimise, I wish half manner through the episode Moon Dancer called her out on that, non to mention when Twilight was wondering if her old friends lives experience apart after she left, a little self centered aren't you Twilight, ponies have lives and they movement on, that should take been a message in this episode.

I felt for Moon Dancer and Twilight no showing at her party, only you know if she had shown upward, we have had night forever, I am sure that would take been a corking political party if we allowed Nightmare Moon to take her mode. And yous know what they could have added to make this episode merely a tad better, is for Luna and Celestia, or Luna at least evidence upward and tell Moon Dancer the silver lining of Luna turning good again and how would not have happened if Twilight didn't do what she did.

I know I am ranting and sounds similar I hate this episode, merely I loved it. I enjoyed information technology, Moon Dancer was an awesome character, the other three were kind of generic but that is okay.

This episode could accept easily been well-nigh Twilight's one-time friends take advantage of her guilt and use Twilight princess status to proceeds something, I idea that was what they were going for at first when Minuette wanted to take a motion picture with Twilight, thankfully that didn't happen.

Great episode despite my rant, merely I only bluster considering I beloved.

BTW, Anyone else observe the plot some what similar to "The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone", in that both a member of Mane 6 makes up with an ex friend, and nosotros have some adorable flashbacks.

I do feel episode and the experiences in it will play office in the inevitable showdown with Starlight Glimmer in the season finale. I think it is implied that Starlight Glimmer and Double Diamond were one-time friends. And using experience mending their own erstwhile broken friendship, they will repair Starlight Glimmer and Double Diamond broken friendship. And hopefully some adorable flashbacks.

I loved simply how far back into the bear witness'southward lore they went with this episode
That's some pretty tight continuity right there
Also a little bonus in that Moondancer was a main pony back in G1 (the 2nd airplane pilot to be exact)

also, did anyone else notice?

Honestly, this episode rubbed me the wrong style. I'one thousand of the opinion that if someone wants to be by themselves and doesn't care for socialising, then it isn't your business to "correct" them. It was as well disappointing to learn that there was apparently nothing more to Moon Dancer's outlook on friendship than Twilight's abrupt departure and her failure to show up to a party which the three other friends she'd invited had all attended. Instead of validating Twilight's assumption throughout the episode that everything in this world revolves around her, it would take made far more sense if the other iii had somehow as well been culpable.

I've been meaning to say this for a while, but I actually adore how every episode this flavour so far has offered a completely dissimilar experience. It definitely offers a ton of variety dissimilar almost of the other cartoons I actually enjoy, and that, along with how good near of the episodes this flavour have been, is probably making it my favorite season then far.

This is another great episode in that collection. The idea to bring Twilight dorsum to where she began is interesting enough and is sure to lend itself to some emotion (which, during the first deed, we indeed become as well as a fairly humorous Minuette), simply when Moondancer entered the flick, everything is suddenly brought to the next level. Her character adds a neat and extremely effective contrast between what did happen to Twilight vs. what could have happened, and the fact they accept significantly more in common than they practice with the other three (who are the kind of friends who are so much more cheerful than her yous'd swear they wouldn't care how she acts - and I've known a ton of people like that) shows why Twi would hateful much more than to her. And even her shutting Twilight'southward offers downwardly is somewhat justified, as she is given more than reasons not to trust her.

In terms of Twilight's role, it'd be very hard to beat out last week in terms of amusement value, but I feel the 1 they gave her here does a better task of balancing her obsessive side with her dignified side. And even with her doing this in the name of integrity, you can tell she'south still far from perfect since she never knew Lyra lived in Ponyville or just how often the others visited (further emphasized with Pinkie's visit - it's funny thinking she's relied on Pinkie two episodes in a row), and kept calling the unicorns her 'old friends' through what I recollect is some kind of denial so she doesn't remind herself how isolated she used to be. Her more disruptive actions do make sense in the context in the episode, because after recalling episode 1 (BTW it's pretty weird seeing relatively jerky animation next to more avant-garde visuals), you can see every ounce of regret she feels from her stare alone.

Even the moral surprised me with just how nicely presented it was. It's one affair to prove to someone else that you now know amend in terms of caring nearly them than yous did earlier. It's another when you lot testify to them that, as much every bit they may call up that the friend y'all valued more than anyone else betrayed them, there are ever others that will always value them extremely highly and very much want to see them succeed in life. IMO that'due south probably the master thing that truly ties together Moondancer'south arc, as after seeing her shoot down the constant genuine apologies, they had to bring the significant to the complete next level, and they most certainly did.

It'due south non my favorite episode of the season, but that's mainly due to stiff competition with a lot of the other fantastic stuff we've gotten. In regards to how it stands in the entire series, it'south a really impressive entry that personally speaks to me on multiple levels.

I didn't call up the show would look at Twilight's history much since her life "started" when she moved to Ponyville. And so, I definitely enjoyed this episode quite a lot because it followed up on the very first episode rather well.

Twilight'south old friends' reactions to her return were reasonable, and Minuette's upbeat attitude was great. Bringing in Pinkie Pie to throw a political party for Moon Dancer was definitely a smart move. Considering that Pinkie Pie makes it her job to know everypony, I'm non surprised she knows Minuette. It's funny how Twilight was initially the to the lowest degree social out of all of them, and Moon Dancer was opening up, only that's not quite the example in this episode. Twilight'south apology and Moon Dancer accepting her former and new friends were skilful, too.

From that picture of the 6 ponies at the end: imagine if Twilight was more social, and her Canterlot friends were the other wielders of the Elements of Harmony. And so again, information technology wouldn't await fair having 6 unicorns as the chief cast of the show. Also, in that grouping, all of the ponies accept similar designs with each other. I'm pretty sure that'south mainly considering of the (somewhat) limited designs of the background characters, but it's amusing to note.

I would've like Lyra to testify upward, only I'thousand hoping she (or any of Twilight's old friends) volition have some interactions with the primary characters at some bespeak. I also wonder if Bon Bon will be vital to any of this.

Some quibbles: I don't know why exactly Twilight would think her sometime friends were injure well-nigh her being a "bad friend" since she wasn't very social (this was fifty-fifty pointed out). Then again, that was the bespeak of Moon Dancer'south role, but her reaction is (somewhat) justified. I suppose since Twilight is yet learning about friendship, she probably didn't know what to await. On Moon Dancer, her reaction to Twilight non showing up is a chip much especially since she nevertheless had 3 other friends, but she did feel a closer connection to Twilight since they're both bookworms (dare I say nerd?). Moon Dancer would probably feel pretty sore against Twilight, merely shutting out anybody else is, again, a bit much. Of form, it is upwards to her to determine how to handle adverse situations. And Twilight shouldn't be forcing somepony who doesn't desire to be social to be - well, social, though Moon Dancer did admit she wanted friends. I think the "not wanting friends" aspect should've been used in "A Friend In Deed", merely that's a different topic.

And SaneMan pointed out Starlight Glimmer's cameo in the eating place. I'm hoping she'll have more than to do because she hasn't done all that much in the season so far.

I felt for Moon Dancer and Twilight no showing at her party, but you know if she had shown up, we accept had night forever, I am sure that would have been a swell political party if we allowed Nightmare Moon to have her way. And you know what they could have added to make this episode just a tad meliorate, is for Luna and Celestia, or Luna at least show up and tell Moon Dancer the argent lining of Luna turning skilful once again and how would not have happened if Twilight didn't do what she did.

I re-watched part of the offset episode, and the summer solstice was actually ii days after Twilight was invited to the political party, but the episode fabricated it seem similar everything happened in i twenty-four hour period. For the want of a nail, indeed.

Awesome/enjoyable/heartwarming episode,

Minuette, Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine, and Moon Dancer, the best awesome female characters with sugariness designs.

Twilight making amends with Minuette, Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine, and Moon Dancer was sugariness of her, Twilight an anti-social jerkette in her past was surprising/interesting though.

Moon Dancer a cold cranky anti-social jerkette while changing showing her nice soft sides was great, I did feel pitiful for her though.

Both Twilight/Rainbow have a lot in mutual on reuniting with jerky ex-friends when they change, hehehe, which I love Gilda Griffin and hope to see her further episodes.

So love Starlight Glimmer's cameo, yaaaaaay.

Twilight creating the party for Moon Dancer was awesome of her.

Little finger Twilight's secret weapon was an awesome smart movement.

Minuette/Pinkie Pie as best friends was sweet.

A very sweet ending which Moon Dancer is now friends with Twilight.

So love that Dan Backslide picture, my favorite crawly funny archetype villain.

This was i of those like "Tanks For The Memories" that when I start heard the premise was going "this might be skillful but doesn't it go against what was already established?" Since from what it sounded similar it was Twilight reconnecting with old friends just wasn't the whole point of the original two parter and in fact Twilight's whole character at first she didn't really have friends and simply in making connections with the Mane 6 did she really take people she could connect with? Simply really no, this episode does it right. Past pointing out that Twilight was more anti social and generally didn't get along with others and is trying to make amends for that now for the grouping of ponies she was just effectually with. Because yes the three ponies (Minuette, Lemon Drops and the crew) were the ones we saw in the first episode and in fact the whole party with Moon Dancer was mentioned there also and then in a weird way this was a swell connectedness episode to show not simply how far Twilight's come up, simply the power of reconnecting with friends or people yous utilize to know. Because yeah from my own personal expierences you lot can have sour re meeting with people you use to know but other times it can really bloom into potent friendships again if you lot brand the effort. And I liked seeing that with the group. I at offset idea Minutte and the others were playing Twilight and information technology'd exist a "Twilight Time" situation but no just having a bit of fun and Minute just having a moment of "wow meeting again with someone who became actually famous." And though the state of affairs with Moon Dancer sort of reminds me of Pinkei's desperate attempts to get Cranky to be her friend in "A Friend in Deed" this is more from someone who utilise to take a connection with whose past deportment were hurt by Twilight so in a weird fashion information technology makes more than sense why Twi wants to reconnect with her over again. And the ending really seeing Moon Dancer admit she needed to hear Twilight realize that folly and try and open and try over again was expert, likewise as the ending just showing Moon Dancer happy with the others. I capeesh the episodes that don't just end on a joke cause honestly... most of the ones that have this season oasis't been good. The more Pinkie focused ones like "Lost Treasure of Griffenstone" or "Party Pooped" but this didn't need to and glad the episode realized that.

There were some good jokes. Some sort of cliché ones like we had a "me and my big mouth" and shushing Librarian bit but even those were spiced up past adding a flake as well them. Like Twilight maxim afterwards she was glad Spike opened his big mouth and Twilight putting a cone of silence around her and Moon Dancer. I also liked the opening runner of Twilight not having any thought who her former friends were and having to constantly exist reminded of their names, too every bit Moon Dancer's annoyed reactions seeing the others attempt to arroyo her. Kind of wish the "trail of books" fleck had a stronger pay off but as well decent Eastward.T reference. Also liked when Moon Dancer asked Pinkie was that how to starting time a party (yeah Pinkie Pie is in this episode and is the only member of the Mane six sans Twilight to be here. Which makes sense for the plot but honestly again does feel weird with how off a balance of characters we've been getting from this season) or teased Twilight a bit for not knowing she and Minutte hung out in Ponyville. Hmmm actually comedy wise this was a much more than subtler and downwards to earth episode. I guess afterward the strange bizarre effectually the globe trip we got terminal fourth dimension that makes sense only aye simply a lot of talking with very few actual visual gags in in that location. It's not something we often meet from the show but it works well here. And yes honestly this to me is a solid episode that does well expanding on a fleck from the original to bring Twilight more than total circle and is only a generally prissy episode. I hope we come across more from the other master characters before long simply still good stuff hither IMHO.

Twilight making amends with Minuette, Lemon Hearts, Twinkleshine, and Moon Dancer was sweet of her, Twilight a collision-ish anti-social jerkette in her past was surprising/interesting though.

Moon Dancer a cold cranky standoff-ish jerkette while changing showing her nice soft sides was nifty, I did experience sorry

for her though.

What? How exactly were Twilight and Moondancer "standoff-ish jerkettes"? Twilight was initially too wrapped upward in her studies to be social, and Moondancer felt burned after Twilight stood her up at her political party. Not calling those admirable traits, but those are natural understandable feelings and behaviors. Neither character did or said anything to willfully hurt anyone else, so I don't encounter how either qualify as "jerkettes". Every graphic symbol who does things isn't a wiggle, you know. I'd be curious to learn what your definition of the discussion 'jerk' is, 'cause you throw that epithet around quite a flake, to the signal where information technology practically loses all significant. And when did either of them practice anything "standoff-ish"? I don't call up seeing a single standoff situation in the unabridged 22 minutes of this. Were we watching the same episode?

Finally got around to watching this episode.

I felt a really big connection to this episode as I'll admit I'k non very good at being social/friendly with others. I can sort of see myself in either Twilight'south or Moon Dancer's positions in that I suck at maintaining friendships and at the same time have shut myself away from others after failed attempts to reach out to others whenever I try to be friendly.

This episode illustrates the reason why I cull to picket this testify in the outset place... Non only does this show demonstrate the importance of friendship, but also how not to mess things up with friendships.

I finally got to see this today. Normally I see the new episodes on-need the next mean solar day or two just that never happened with this one.

I thought this was a great episode.
Moondancer existence almost similar Twilight would've been, was a nice "what if", though I say "most" because I'm certain Twilight and Moondancer would've been corking friends with each other.
Twilight existence her panicky self is e'er fun seeing and it's funny how one of her friends knew of her other friends.
The ending was heartwarming as well. and it seemed like what Moondancer needed was to vent out her anger in order to finally forgive Twilight.

also, did anyone else observe?
On NO! Starlight is the new Derpy!
